Ms. Lizette Wilson - Toddler Classroom - I fell in love with the Montessori philosophy after enrolling my son in the toddler classroom where I was fortunate to be able to work as an assistant. I began my Montessori training in 2007 and received my NAMC teaching certificate in 2008. During that time I worked with children with special needs and applied the Montessori philosophy. When my daughter turned 2 in 2009 I enrolled her at OMS and was able to work here as well. I began working at OMS as a teaching assistant working part time while still attending school to pursue my elementary teaching degree. I took 1 year off for maternity leave and returned to OMS in 2014 as a lead teacher. I am happy to be back with the OMS family.
Ms. Cindy Johnson - 3-6 Classroom - Cindy started her Montessori teaching career over eleven years ago at Our Montessori School. She joined the staff as a Classroom Assistant and two years later became a Lead Teacher in a 3-6 classroom. She completed her NCME Montessori Teacher Accreditation in 2000. She and her family moved to California where she worked at Little Blossoms Montessori for one year as a Lead Teacher and then moved into Administration at Sacramento Montessori where she spent the last three years as the Director. It is with much excitement that she has returned to Our Montessori School to continue teaching. She truly looks forward to meeting the families and the children this next year.
Ms. Denise Tapia - 3-6 Classroom - Denise has been with Our Montessori School since 2004. She is a certified 3-6 Montessori Teacher through NCME. She has always loved working with children. Her original intention when she went to college was to get her degree in Education. As it happens so often, she changed her degree to Sociology with the intent to work in counseling with children and families. Denise graduated from the University of New Mexico with her Bachelor's degree in Sociology. She worked in many different corporate positions before realizing that her heart was still leaning toward working with children. She began as an Assistant and also ran the summer program here which she really enjoyed. She had the privilege of working with Ms. Jennifer, a former teacher here at Our Montessori School, as her Assistant where she learned a great deal. She decided to get her Montessori teaching accreditation through NCME. Denise has become a Lead Teacher and found that following her heart to teach was definitely the right decision for her.
Ms. Gay Stapleton - Music Instructor - Gay has nearly 30 years of experience in early childhood care and education. She has a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Oklahoma Baptist University . Her first job out of college was teaching in a preschool. The next year she taught music in an elementary school. She did not enjoy teaching elementary children as much as she had enjoyed the preschool age children so she returned to teaching preschool children. Gay has her American Montessori Society Early Childhood Teaching Credential. She has been teaching in a Montessori classroom since 1994. Gay came to Our Montessori School in October 1997 as the Toddler Teacher. The next year she and the children became the 3-6 year old classroom. Gay has also taught the music program at Our Montessori School for the past 5 years and will continue to do so in the future. She is also a member of the Board of Directors and continues to support the Montessori philosophy at OMS.
